VICTORY

SMWD! One Team One Team!!! Huhaa!!!!

When building a team, I always search FIRST for people who love to win....
If I cannot find any of those, then I will look for people who hate to lose.

That is who we are, We are a bunch of MAWD delegates who LOVES to win and Hate to lose.

When we won the gold medals for Bancarera and Swimming, I was so confident that we will still grab more golds in the coming events. I can feel the POWER engulfing our team....
What this power is, I cannot say..... All I know is that it exists..... And it becomes available only when we are in the state of mind in which we know exactly what we want... and are fully determined not to quit until we get it.

We failed in Badminton, Darts, Cheerdance, Tug-of-war and track and Field events.

In all the events where we are defeated, we accept them as a signal that our plans are not sound, and so, we will rebuild those plans, and set sail once more toward our coveted GOAL!

When on the brink of complete discouragement, we should remember that... the line between failure and success is so thin/fine that often a single EXTRA effort is all that is needed to bring victory out of defeat.

When people told me that we dont have a chance to win coz i only have a limited number of athletes... I answered them : "What really counts is not necessarily the size of the dog in the fight - it is the size of the fight in the dog."

Victory is always possible for a person who refuses to stop fighting.

One Team One Team!!!!

MAWD sportsfest 2008 was a breakthrough year for SMWD. Our team grabbed 4 golds and 1 bronze medals... a feat for 24 delegates competing against large water districts with upto 150 to 210 delegates.

Heres our fairy tale journey:

We left Surigao for GenSan at 3:30 am. We nearly met an accident in San Frans, coz Cito made a boo-boo by going the opposite direction in the rotonda. Our vehicle glass was broken after it was hit by a stone from another vehicle. The back door of isuzu wont open, forcing us to exit in d drivers' door. Our vehicle was jampacked with all d baggage, bicycle, water dispenser, etc... When we reach South Cotabato (Malungon), our driver was unable to endure the 'panuhot', forcing us to scrounge the services of Doming Plaza (Driver of another service)... despite our ordeal, our trip was filled with laughter, hilarity and merriment (bagan pareho ra sila na meaning...).

Bancarera race was very tight, but we got the best time of 4 min & 58 seconds, followed closely by Digos WD at 5 minutes traverse time.

Swimming contest was very exciting, Romy was able to come from behind to beat the swimmer from Zamboanga.

2 Golds after 2 events!!!! SMWD was the instant STAR of the sportsfest.

Sack race was so thrilling, the never say die attitude of Romy produced the third GOLD for us.

Come from behind, never say die, ginebra style play seemed to be our style, our Fourth GOLD was a miracle gold.... we never expected to beat Davao WD in table tennis, but we pulled it thru...

All in all, SMWD got the most number of golds behind Davao WD and Zamboanga WD.

One team One Team!!!!!! Huhaaa!!!!
