BINGE DRINKING

I went home very late na last night… or should I say this morning? It was already past 3am when I climbed my bed, fully intoxicated. I cannot even remember how I was able to go home. Lucky me, when I looked at my motorcycle this morning, it was still in good shape.

Last year, I had 2 accidents due to too much alcohol intake. Two accidents… more than enough to remind me that life can be taken away at a click of the moment, anytime, anywhere… and it comes more often to those alcohol abusers…

Right now I’m suffering from a severe head ache and hang over… pagura dim!

I wish I would be able to resolve my self not to binge drink anymore.

The 11th Commandment

SMWD cagers dominated the court for all but the last 3 minutes of the game. Big men Jimmy Jensen ‘Kano’ and Jerry leong crushed the boards, while sharpshooting sumayang and botchok denied the defense put up by SEC Mentors thru their long range shooting. And if those offensive threats are not enough, SMWD flash players easily sliced thru whatever perimeter resistance that are uselessly created by the other team.

The game was almost unfair to watch. SMWD boys dominated the mentors. We literally humiliated them in front of their students… until I decided to let in the game what we call the “patisoy Boys’. Afterall, its only a ‘friendhip game’… why not give the adversary a ray of hope.

Little by little, like a constant drop of water that ultimately carved the rock, our 25 point lead dwindled to just 8 points. I immediately called a time out and send back to court my ‘power team’. But its too late. The hope that I gave the Mentors turned into a confidence that whatever I do to break their momentum, all efforts are futile. They knew that the game is theirs and ours to lose.

When the final horn sounded, the score was 97-95. In favor of SEC Mentors.

Another lesson learned personally delivered by SEC mentors.

Its 08-08-08 today! For me, a very special day, simply because Eight (8) is my favorite number.
And for millions of sports fans throughout the world, tonight at 8pm marks the formal kickoff of the Summer Olympic Games in Beijing, China.

Just what is it with number Eight?

Here’s some that I can think of:

8 (eight) is a natural number following 7 and preceding 9. :-)

8 is the atomic number of a very important element Oxygen.

In Christianity, 8 is the number of Beatitudes.

8 is considered a lucky number in Chinese culture because it sounds like the word ‘prosper’ or ‘wealth’. ….amu ba?

There are 8 musicians in an octet.

In Islam, 8 is the number of Angels carrying the Holy Throne of Allah in heavens.

Kobe Bryant wore this number for most parts of his career. His number today is 24. 2 x 4 = 8.

In Chess, each side has 8 pawns. And the number of squres in the board is 64 arranged in an eight by eight lattice.

So far, that’s the only thing related to eight that I can think of. If you can contribute to the list, please do so.

Olympiakoi Agones

The modern Olympic Games was inaugurated in Athens, Greece in 1896. It is a multi-sport event. It was first organized as a SUMMER sports event through 1920 and the WINTER Olympic games began in 1924. Today, we also have the Paralympics, also a multi-sport event for athletes with physical, mental and sensorial disabilities.

Summer and Winter Olympics were held at the same year until 1992. Since then, the summer games are held during the first year of an Olympiad, the winter games during the third year. Paralympics are held after the summer games.

In many occasions, politics has interfered with the games, and the most well-known incident was during the Berlin Summer Olympics, where the games were used as propaganda by the German Nazis, claiming they have the superior race. Another attestation of political interference, the Soviet Union didn’t participate in the Olympics until 1952, instead, they organized their own international sports event called SPARTAKIADS, with athletes from communist nations participating.

Despite every effort to bring “World Peace’ thru games, three Olympiads had to pass without Olympics due to WAR.

Violent incidents occurred during the Beijing Olympic Torch Relay due to protests held by pro-Tibet/pro-Human Rights groups.

Terrorism has also become a recent threat to the Olympic Games.

There are many symbols used during these games, the most widely used symbol is the Olympic Rings. It represents the unity of five ‘inhabited’ continents. The colors of the rings : White, Red, Blue, Yellow & Black were chosen such that each nation has at least one of these colors in their national flags.

The Olympic Flame also play an important role in the opening ceremonies. The Olympic Mascot represents the cultural heritage of the host country.

“The most important thing in the Olympic Games is not to win but to take part, just as the most important thing in life is not the triumph but the struggle. The essential thing is not to have conquered but to have fought well.”

PEACE AT A PRICE

The Philippine Govt has the record of having the longest INSURGENCY problem in the world. Four decades of internal conflicts with our Filipino brothers in the ‘kabundukan’ as well as with our ‘bangsamoro’ brothers. War in Mindanao is long overdue… its time to have peace.

The Arroyo administration seems to be in such a hurry to end the conflicts in Mindanao, just to be able to leave a ‘legacy’ to the Filipinos, having done NOTHING in her nine years of governance. Gloria might think that bringing peace in Mindanao would erase in the minds of the Filipinos all the ‘kapalpakan’ that she has made throughout the years. With these in mind, the President will practically and effectively cede part of Philippine territory to the MILF by fast tracking the signing of MOA on Ancestral Domain between GRP and MILF…

But will the MOA on ancestral domain bring peace in Minadanao? Many of the countries ‘banggi-itan na mga analysts’ don’t think so, in fact, they said its downright dangerous! I, Eyesman, agree with them.

Heres what the MOA on ancestral domain will do:

The MOA will grant an expanded ARMM its OWN basic law, an INTERNAL SECURITY force!, a system of banking and finance, Civil Service!!, education and legislative institutions, FULL Authority to develop and DISPOSE of minerals and natural resources!!!!.... The government of the proposed MILF-controlled area would also have the power to send trade missions overseas and to ENTER into international arrangements. That “ancestral domain does not form part of the Philippines’ public domain.”

WHATEVER HAPPENED TO THE MINDS OF OUR GOVERNMENT NEGOTIATORS???!! Are they OUT of their MINDS!?!? Don’t they know that they are basically giving the MILF all the necessary elements of a state?-government, people, territory?

Please don’t get me worng, I am for the END of any and all forms of armed hostilities… But as one free people of different faiths and cultures, I DO NOT favor the creation of a judicial entity based on religion or segregation.

NFP_Natural Family Planning

Our Bishops admonished us (thru their prayer rallies) to "CONTROL OURSELVES IN BED"... that we should have discipline and self control... with these, they mean to use the CHURCH-SANCTIONED natural family planning methods....

In short, they dont want us to use CONDOMS, pills and the likes... pwede ra daw ang Calendar method... dapat may disiplina ang mga couples. With this, they mean that we only do the 'ger-ger' (..sorry..) during our wife's infertile days... they mean to put my libido 'on hold' during those 'inconvenient' times...

Im sorry...bagan kalisod an gusto nan mga bishop... but if they say that we should have discipline by confining our libido within the confines of marriage... its okay...

But to control the couples urge to have sex to strengthen the romantic appeal and physical attraction toward each other...

How about those couples who have living arrangements that simply can not apply 'scheduled' sex during the womans infertile days? im talking about mga balikbayans from abroad who have been working abroad for 3 straight years and have the chance to go home for at least one month? Do they have to wait for those infertile days?

I agree with Rina David... to the prelates who, by the way have taken their vow of celibacy - JUST BUTT OUT OF OUR SEX LIVES..

A VISIT IN THE HUNDRED ACRE WOODS

HI!

Today is a memorable day for papa and me.... its no special occassion however, its not because its the 3rd game between the lakers and celtics...its simply the 2nd year anniversary of the 1st UNGAS by papa... when he was bumped by our office vehicle when we toured the pax from Valencia WD. Whats funny (not really) is that the accidents of papa happened always a day before an occassion... d 1st ungas happened a day before Independence Day, the 2nd ungas a day before Labor day and the 3rd ungas happend a day before the comm div. annual planning.... see? funny? A WARNING TO PAPA....

Well, anyway may i change the topic...

I am happy for the turn out of events this 2008... hope it will sustain or improve for many more years and until i grow old... know why? aside from papa has brought golds for the WD...he is becoming more homely now a days... and alcohol and peers seems minimal... PRAISE THE LORD!!!......

Whats more, papa has iniated and is interested in making our family time more fruitful... AS IN WE ARE NOW ENGAGE IN FARMING!!!! YES!!! I am so happy watching papa clearing and cultivating our piece of land in the bundoks... the quarrels are becoming rare, too... PRAISE THE LORD!!!!

Although, we still have our share of problems... for me its lighter to carry coz i know i have papa with me, not just physically, but also in thoughts and heart... yaks kabalaknon ni mama... yes just last week bankard collection legal called me demanding me to pay P10T for may credit card account... id been delinquent for 3 months now, that started when d girl of aris got ceasarian operation... we're the ones who born the expenses... that explains our left and right debts(some) and our bancard bills... for now we are still wondering where can we get the 30% payment i was able to negotiate with the company... huhuh.... i have still book balance in school and my little girl has no uniform yet.... plus the every day baon and pamasahe... huhu....another plus is the upcoming insurance due of my little boy... another huhuhu.... not to mention our much delayed housing loan application... another huhuh... But anyway, im confident we can get through all of these.... with papa and my angels on my side and of course with the power up there....

Another by the way, my kids are in school na.... Baby Ella is so excited with school, but her excitement seems to evaporate when its wake up time... That little girl is such a sleepy bug and is difficult to wake up.... to think she's asking for a pillow with her sleepy eyes while im making her take her bath... HAHAHA... Oh, my girl is a tough girl in school, she can manage herself na inside the classroom... she's a little bit shy yet... but she humms her school ryhmes at home... alone... dnt 'pansin' her when she's doing this coz she'll stop and hide or make face with you if you do... another HAHAHA!!!

Well kuya has changes a lot now, he's bagging mama to hurry up coz he might be late in school!!! Just like his papa... Hes so concerned with his lil sis by declaring he will protect her in school and he make it a point to usher her lil sis to her classroom and pick her up on the way home....

WOW... my source of joy and happiness... my strength... my lil angels... and my big angel too...THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR BEING PART OF MAMA'S LIFE...
